How to play 18 Words
18 Words is a free daily word puzzle. Each day you get 18 scrambled words. Spell a real word with all the letters before time runs out.
The basics
- Open 18words.com and tap Play now.
- Look at the scrambled letters on screen.
- Tap or type them in the right order to make a real word.
- You must use every letter shown.
- Solve before the timer hits zero.
- Keep going for as many of the 18 words as you can.
Helpful controls
- Shuffle mixes the letters if you're stuck.
- Reveal letter fills in one correct letter. You only get a few of these.
- Hint can nudge you when a word is hard.
- Pause hides the puzzle so you can take a break without peeking.
- On a computer, you can type with your keyboard.
Scoring
Your score is how many of the 18 words you solve. When the run ends, you can share it and compare with other players. There's one attempt at today's puzzle, so treat it like a proper daily challenge.
Archive puzzles
After you finish today, you can open the archive and try earlier days for practice. That doesn't change today's score.
Tips
- Look for common endings first, like -ed, -er, -ing, or -ly.
- Group vowels and see what consonants fit around them.
- If a word feels wrong, clear it and reshuffle.
- Save reveals for longer words near the end.
